Essential GDPR Security Technologies

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) replaced the existing Data Protection Directive on May 25, 2018.

This law has been designed to protect the personal data of UK and EU Residents and is a modern law designed for the internet age and backed up with some big punitive measures for non-compliance.

These measures not only include fines of up-to 4% of global turnover or €20M - whichever is the greater- but also open the door for large scale consumer litigation (think “class action”), equal measures for processors and controllers and more.

GDPR mandates that organisations must use "appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure a level of security appropriate to the risk".

This whitepaper attempts to clarify the specific security needs that organisations must consider arising from the GDPR and will highlight some of the key technologies that may help.
